While reading the various stories, I found myself trying to hold back my tears because I personally related to the painful feelings carried by unresolved abandonment.I am 69 and have gone to counseling many times for depression. My father was physically and emotionally abusive, but I don't think we ever addressed the abandonment
issue.I am depressed again and have an appointment next week with a new counselor. I am going to bring up the possibility of abandonment issues.
Thank you for this site.

Comment on What Is Your "Core Abandonment Issue?"

Thank you for sharing your insight and I hope that you will continue to find the site valuable.
I read a few comments and I'm wondering if the few who said they had "no issues" are in denial. If not, that's wonderful, but you may want to re-think it. How does one with no issues behave? How do you grow in a perfect environment? I've never met anyone with "no issues"...so I'm just wondering. UNBELIEVABLE! My friends and I all seem to be bound by our similar "issues". How do you make any friends when you've never been there or done that?
Anyway, this is the best site I've found in a long, long time. Thank you so much!

Comment on The Abandonment Issues in the Fight for Healthcare

I couldn't agree with you more!
When I was 3 my mother married my step father. When I was 8 they shipped me to my dad and step mom. when I was 9 my dads brother and his wife legally adopted me. Then when I was 12 I was sent back to my mom and step dad. where do I begine the healing process. I finally realized after all of these years that happiness is with in me. even though I have to remind my self of this several times a day. I have a very hard time telling people I love them. It almost feels like you have to pry it out of me with pliers. And it is rarely genuine. Thank you for listening to my story.

Comment on The Abandonment Issues in the Fight for Healthcare

Thanks.
